FIDE World Rapid Team Chess Championship

From the 26th to the 28th August the first FIDE Team World Championship in rapid chess took place in Düsseldorf.

As expected, our team, Düsseldorfer Schachklub 1914/25 e.V., which mostly consisted of members of our club, ended up in the upper midfield. After several ups and downs, we were catapulted up before the last round and drawn against the 1st seeded team called Freedom.

Despite the 1.5 to 4.5 defeat, we had some chances of a positive result during the fight.

I managed to draw with black against one of the world-class players Daniil Dubov and thus somewhat embellished my modest (-1) result on board 2.

It must be admitted that I was the captain of our team and was responsible for some things (e. g. team line-up before each round).
